Steal a March on the Spammers

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

You heard right. Get one over on those hijos de putas by playing them at their own game. Well, not quite exactly their own game, but instead of getting mad, get even. Here’s two home based business tips you can use to your own advantage:

1. Let Them Steal Your Content

Here, I’m talking about the kind of highly annoying gits who scrape your content and post it as their own on their websites and blogs. You can’t stop them, so play it clever. Every time you write a new post, include a link to your own site in the first paragraph and make it a keyword anchored link for good measure. Just like the one I just made.

When Mr Spamasshole comes along and scrapes your post, he is most likely to be stupid (as most spammers are) and will not bother to remove your link but post it as is in his blog.

The upshot is his site gets slapped for the duplicate content, but you get a keyword anchored one-way backlink to your site.  Oh, and the reason for putting it in the first paragraph is that a lot of scrapers only publish the first paragraph and link back to the originating site with the anchor text “click here to read the full story…” or somesuch useless text. Then you get two backlinks - one useless and one very useful.

2. Let Them Spam Your Comments

Spammers love to leave comments in blogs with reams of links to unsavoury sites. Well, don’t just delete them all, use them!

If you have time, edit each of the spammers’ comments and put your own keyword rich text in there, making sure you remove all their links and then approve the comment. The search engines give you more authority if your blog has lots of comments - it doesn’t matter where they come from as long as they come from a different IP address or geo location and the text is relevant to your blog. Voila - thank you Mr Spamasshole for lots of relevant, keyword filled comments!

Now those asshole spammers can put a smile on your face in at least two very satisfying ways!

Ramblings Of An IM Junkie - Make A Million Dollars Tomorrow!

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Hi:

Yes, you read the title right. Make a million dollars tomorrow.

Would you like that in 10s and 20s or should I sent it to you in food stamps?

Okay, I’m obviously kidding. However, I have to tell you…there are many people online who actually get into the Home Business Biz and expect to get rich overnight. How do I know that?

Get a load of this section from an email that I received just the other day.

“Look, I know that this make money thing can’t be all that hard. I mean I see people raking in a fortune all over the place. So just give me a couple of things I can do that’ll bring me in 20k this month.”

I almost fell to the floor with laughter. Sure buddy, when hell freezes over and Michael Jackson keeps his hands off of little kids.

The truth is, this is the mentality I run into ALL over the place and it never ends. New people get into the world of making money online and think it’s going to be a cakewalk.

News Flash…It is NO cakewalk.

Last year was the end of my 5th year of running my own business online. My first year I made about $12,000.

Last year, for the first time, I broke 6 figures for the year. And no…it was NOT easy.

Running your own business is a hell of a lot of hard work and more of it than you can possibly imagine. There are things you need to learn when you’re first starting out that would boggle your mind if you knew. The truth is, if most people knew what it took BEFORE they dove in, they’d never go through with it.

Well, I don’t know where you are in your journey, but in my sig is a link to a product I created that literally has every bit of information that I have crammed into my head in the last 5 years.

Do I guarantee it will make you a million dollars?

Hell, I don’t guarantee it will make you a red cent. But without knowing what you’re doing, which this product will certainly do, you haven’t got a prayer.

Make a million dollars tomorrow…Yeah, right.

Sincerely,

Steven Wagenheim

I Hate Spammers With A Passion!

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

When I say, “I hate spammers” I mean that in the deepest sense of the word. We’re talking HATRED beyond what I can even say in this post without sounding like a completely crazed psychotic!

So what brought this post on?

Well, first of all I have always hated spam as much as anyone else. Maybe even more since I’ve been an internet marketer for quite a while and I get more of it than the average person. Nobody likes seeing their email filled with a bunch of crap everyday.

Plus, spammers ruin it for us legitimate internet marketers who build true double opt-in email lists, follow all the rules, and send out information to people who actually asked to receive it. And never spam!

But the reason I am writing this post right now is because some asshole has been spamming people like crazy with ads pointing them to one of my websites.

I’ve had my domain provider threaten to shut down my account and my webhost suspended my account twice today. Both were resolved once I explained to them what was going on but it still pissed me off! And now I have complaints noted on those accounts so if someone complains in the future they will see that it has happened before and I will have a harder time getting myself cleared of it.

Plus, I have had a ton of people write to me to complain and some of them have called me every name under the sun… none of them were nice either. I try explaining to them that it wasn’t me but most of them don’t believe me. And why should they? I don’t blame them.

My name, reputation, and business are all getting ruined because some stupid spammer doesn’t care about anyone but himself.

I’ve tried blocking him and taking other actions to stop this from happening but so far none of it has worked. He just keeps on sending out the mass spam emails without even caring that it is doing nothing for him, and it is hurting me and deceiving the people he is emailing.

If I could get my hands on whoever it is doing this it would not be a pretty site. In fact, I would probably be thrown in jail when it was all said and done. I don’t care, it would be worth it! That’s how pissed I am.

Anyway, that is enough of my rant. I just had to get this off my chest and I figured a good way to do that would be to write up a blog post about it.

Let this be a lesson folks - You need to be careful because stuff like this can happen to anyone at any time for no good reason.

Now I am heading off to try to figure out more ways to stop this spammer.

If you have any tips to help me I would love to hear them.

Dedicated to your success,
Trent Brownrigg

Setting your Goals and Finding your Success

Monday, January 21st, 2008

How do you start your day? Do you have a set routine? Do you have a timeline of what you are to accomplish this day? Or are you overwhelmed by the tasks at hand and you don’t know whether you’re coming or going? If it’s the latter, you need to pick yourself up and set some realistic goals for yourself. Are you motivated and committed to reaching these goals? Okay! Let’s begin.

It’s important to set goals that are tailored made for you because only you can achieve them. Take small steps if you have to because you can always goal set for larger ones later, but also make it challenging because once you’ve reached it you will feel you have really climbed a mountain instead of a hill.

Make sure these goals are visible to you. Write it down on a notebook and put it on your desk where you can clearly see it and where you can cross off the finished tasks or write it on a large post-it note and stick it on the bottom of your monitor or on the side. How long will it take for you to accomplish this task? Put a time value on it. This way you can also calculate on how much time you have to complete your other tasks or save them for tomorrow.

Visualizing you have reached your goal keeps you on track, motivated and builds self-esteem and self-confidence that you are able to do this. It will also push you towards reaching your goal and once complete the reward of feeling absolute satisfaction. This will help you aim higher to achieve greater goals.

Some people create daily goals to achieve in one particular day, some set them weekly and some set them monthly or longer. For the ones who set them weekly or monthly and longer, you must be able to track your own progress. It’s easy to get sidetracked and lose motivation, but you have to stay focused in order to achieve success. Remind yourself why you have set these goals and why you want to achieve them.

Don’t let fear and failure prevent you from setting goals because it will also prevent you from achieving success. This is not what you’re striving for…this is not a goal you should be achieving. Yes it’s easier to think negatively, but you must think positively. It’s like karma…what goes around, comes around. You get what you put in.

To your success,

Ramblings Of An IM Junkie - The Secret

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Hi:

Guess what? I just saw “The Secret” yesterday for the FIRST time. That’s right. I admit it. I was one of the holdouts.

Didn’t see it?

See it!

It is probably one of the most compelling and inspirational movies I ever saw. It may very well be responsible for the increased success that I will have this year…the increased success that YOU can have as well.

Last year I banked over $122,000. I was thrilled with this. But I realized after seeing “The Secret” that I could do much better…and I will.

This year, my goal is to earn $500,000. No, not a goal…that is what I WILL earn. I already see myself with that income and what it will allow me to do.

And no, it’s not what you think.

See, I’m not materialistic. Never have been and never will be. One of my biggest joys is sitting on my couch for a half hour each day and playing my $50 nylon 6 string guitar. Now, maybe with $500,000 I can get a little better guitar, but the truth is, I could do that now. I just choose not to.

Why?

That $50 guitar has a lot of sentimental value to me. It was my very first nylon string guitar. And even though some of the paint is peeling off of it, I still love it. I just take a Sharpie and color in the spots that are peeling. Can’t even tell the difference.

My whole outlook on life this year has completely changed. While I have always tried to help struggling new marketers to realize their dreams, this year I’m going to do even more in order to do just that.

So stick around and enjoy the ride with me. If you’ll put your trust in me, you WILL have the success that you desire.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim
