How many articles have you read, websites you’ve seen and posts on blogs that are purely sales pitches? Is it always hype that makes the sale or has the time come when its more important to be a little more personal?
I don’t consider myself to necessarily be a great salesperson. As a relatively new marketer I have found success by making a connection with people who read my blog, articles etc. Don’t get me wrong, there is a sales component but when you love what you do and love what you have the opportunity to share with others then people feel the connection. They do not feel they are being fed a sales pitch and begin to feel a more trusting relationship with you. That is the key because now you are approachable.
I like to write in a manner that I am speaking to a friend of my progress. I always let people know in my posts they can contact me by leaving a comment and they will definitely get a response and I will tell them all they want to know. I have had many people write comments asking for help, advice and want to learn more about my programs. My conversations with those people are even better.
I personally feel its important to be really honest. Honesty shows through. People can feel it and are drawn towards you instead of the many people who are promoting exactly the same program you are promoting. People seeking home businesses are becoming more savvy and many have been burned before. They are wary and rightfully so. If you give them the opportunity to connect with you then you potentially have a loyal downline member for good!
There are so many ways to make a home business work for you but I believe its key to show who you are, keep it real and be approachable. You’ll be receiving those emails, inquiries and sign ups in no time.
Take care,
Laura

I have been very fortunate to have the ability to choose the option of working at home instead of outside of the home. I know there are many who are not so fortunate to have this option.
Some people think just because you do work at home you’re available any time, any where, any place…true on some levels. One of the many luxuries of working at home is the flexibility it allows. You can drop everything when your child calls from school to say you forgot to pack their sandwich or when your child is feeling under the weather and want Mommy to come take them home.
Working at home has it challenges too. Getting sidetracked is very common and so easily to do. If you’re not talking to your clients or co-workers, you need some kind of interaction…it doesn’t matter if it’s on Yahoo or networking sites…the hours can just fly. Goofing off is a sure-fire drawback, but remember there are harsh consequences for these actions. All work and no play is an unbalanced lifestyle and it can become a unhealthy lifestyle.
My choice of choosing to work at home has open new doors for me to explore. Through all my hard work, I was given the opportunity to co-blog on this (Trent’s) blog. In April, I was given another opportunity to write for another work at home blog and I now have a group blog with two friends I met online. All this for choosing to work at home! It’s not shabby at all and I’m grateful for all the opportunities presented to me.
I don’t take anything for granted because it can be snatched right out from under you in a blink of an eye.
Thank you, Trent for giving me this opportunity to share my writings with others. I hope they will find it useful.
To your success,
Sophia

There are many people who like to use free blogs not just for the enjoyment and personal satisfaction of writing down their thoughts and publishing them on the web, but also for Internet Marketing purposes in the pursuit of making money. Likewise, there are many people who prefer to buy their own domains and host them on a professional server, for much the same purpose.
So is one really better than the other?
As this is an Internet Marketing flavoured blog, we’ll leave the bloggers who blog for enjoyments sake to their own and take a look at the avantages and disadvantages of the two options open to those that want to use these different outlets as vehicles for making money.
First up, lets take initial startup and running costs of the two sides of this debate.
A free blog will cost you zero dollars to acquire, zero dollars to set up and zero dollars to run. Ok, that’s pretty convincing for anyone without much cash to start their own online enterprise.
A hosted domain will cost you the price of buying and registering the domain, currently you can buy and register a .com for less than $10. Then there’s the cost of hosting, although currently you can get good hosting for as little as $4.95 a month, although you might want to pay a little more and get a package with more features. Either way, you can find very good professional hosting for less than $10 a month. The other running cost is the annual registration of the domain, which is currently less than $10. So for an outlay in your first year of around $130 you can have all the benefits and control that a hosted account will give you. Even if you are short of cash, that is one expense that is easy enough to cover as the hosting part isn’t paid all in one go, but spread over 12 monthly payments.
So far so good. Now lets look at the fringe benefits.
Free blogs have great, easy to use templates and are the simplest things set up and start writing. Ads are easy to include with Blogger blogs, although some platforms, notably WordPress won’t let you put any ads up at all.
A self hosted blog is also fairly straightforward to set up, with a huge selection of free templates. There is no problem over displaying ads, its your site so you can put up whatever you want.
Now lets look at the stickier point of control and ownership.
I’ve heard using free blogs as opposed to self hosted domains likened to the difference between renting an apartment and owning your own home. Nice comparison and it fits very well.
With a free blog, you’re only renting the space. If the owner (Blogger, for instance) decides they don’t like your face, they can at their discretion, suspend or even delete your blog. The content on that free blog may be yours in principle, but when it comes to what the search engines see, that content belongs to Blogger.
With a self hosted domain, you own that piece of cyberspace like its a piece of real estate. No one can take it away from you and the content is yours. If you’ve worked real hard on your site and gained a lot of authority, just like a home that you own you can sell that site with the domain for a hefty profit down the line.
With a free blog, as with a rented apartment, no matter how hard you work on it and how much authority and value it gets, you can never sell it.
There are other advantages and disadvantages to both, such as guaranteed uptime, storage space and bandwidth limits that self hosted beats free hosted hands down, but the main advantage of self hosted over free hosted has to be the real estate value, which, just as with the argument for renting or buying a property, you have to ask yourself this question. Do you want to have the option to sell it down the line and profit from it?
I prefer to own my own home rather than rent. Likewise, I prefer to own my own cyber real estate too.
Author of The Honest Way
Grizzly Brears over at How to Make Money Online for Beginners has written yet another brilliant post that, once again, proves he really does know how to make money online and wants to help you do the same!
Unlike the John Chows of the world who don’t know shit about making money online, other than the fact that they got lucky with a blog that doesn’t actually teach anything, Griz really does know what he is talking about and he has no problem giving away his knowledge so others can follow his path to success.
I will tell you right now how you can get all the information you need to make money online for free. It comes from three bloggers who have made it their mission to expose all the lies and misconceptions about making money online and give you the honest truth about what you need to do and how to do it. And they don’t charge a cent for the information.
These three bloggers are Grizzly Brears (mentioned above), Vic Franqui from Blogger Unleashed, and Courtney Tuttle from the Internet Marketing School.
I’ve been making money online as an internet marketer for the past 5 years (started in May of 2003). And I can say with 100% certainty that these guys know what they are talking about and the information they freely give away will work. I have learned more about making money online from those three in the past few months than I have in all my 5 years of internet marketing combined.
I have no idea why anyone would waste their time reading blogs like John Chow or any of the hundreds of other so called make money online blogs like his that don’t actually teach anything at all. The only thing they do is suck your money from you and whore their blogs out as much as possible to gain as much profit as they can without giving anything in return.
If you DON’T want to make money online but you do want to GO BROKE trying, then I suggest you follow John Chow and any other blogger that has adopted his style.
But if you are serious about making money online and you are tired of not getting anywhere with everything you have tried then I recommend you follow the Griz, Vic, and Court schools of making money.
Let me say it again…
Forget John Chow – Follow Griz! (As well as Vic & Court)
Oh and since you are reading my blog, I suppose I should probably tell you to follow me as well. There really is a lot of great home based business information here too so don’t forget to come back often. End of shameless plug!
Dedicated to your success,
