Protecting Your Products From Theft

One of the biggest problems in the world of Internet marketing is keeping your products from being stolen. Before I go into this article in any depth at all, let me say that there is no one method of product protection that is 100% foolproof. When I explain the various methods, you’ll see why. If you’re looking for a fool proof solution, it doesn’t exist. Having said that, there are things you can do to greatly reduce the risk of having your products stolen.

The first and cheapest way is to regularly change the thank you page URL of each of your products. The reason you want to do that is because people intent on stealing your stuff will search out these URLs and pass them along to others. There is nothing you can do to stop this unless you go to a paid solution. But changing your thank you page URLs will stop a good deal of theft.

The next thing you can do is password protect your PDFs or create executable ebooks that are password protected. There is a problem with this method however. It’s very annoying to your legit customers. Also, there is nothing to stop them from passing along the password to another person.

Another thing you can do is go to a scripts directory online and find one that actually protects your products from being downloaded illegally. The problem with these free scripts is that they usually don’t come with documentation and they do have some serious limitations.

The best solution that I have found is DLGuard. It is without a doubt as close to perfect as anything I have found. It’s not going to stop somebody who bought your product from sending the actual PDF to another person, but as far as somebody accessing your product off your own server, it is virtually close to impossible.

Will The Elections Affect YOUR Business?

The short answer is yes. If you aren’t interested in the long answer and the caveat, you can skip what follows. But if you REALLY care about your business and want to make the most of it regardless of what happens, then you might want to keep reading.

Okay, here are the plain facts. We do NOT live in a bubble. Everything we do is affected by everything that the world has to throw at us. The unfortunate side of business for some is the windfall for others. Think I’m kidding? Let’s look at some examples.

Up until recently, gas prices were through the roof. This really hurt car sales of SUVs and similar vehicles. However, smaller cars started to sell more. But even beyond that, did you see all the products coming out for turning water to gas and all that other BS? This gas crisis was a windfall for these products. If I’m not mistaken, up until recently, Water4gas was one of the top selling Clickbank products.

Let’s take a look at the economy. The housing crisis has been a real downer for those of us trying to sell our homes. It is a total buyers market. So the guy who came out with a book on how to sell YOUR house for the price YOU want EVEN in a buyers market, is selling like crazy.

Yes, one person’s unfortunate circumstance is the other person’s windfall. So yes, the elections tonight WILL affect your business.

But how?

Ah, that is hard to say. Depends on who wins and where the economy goes in the near future. When the economy is good, sales are generally good all the way around. But even when the economy is bad, sales in certain areas can still be good.

For example, in bad economic times where people are either losing their jobs or afraid of losing their jobs, this is when these people turn to the Internet to try to earn some extra money. Perhaps you’re one of them. I lost my job over 8 years ago. I was literally forced to turn to the Internet to earn a living. It turned out to be the best thing I ever did. Last month I had my second month over $14,000 in income.

The key is not letting adversity get to you. If something bad happens, that means you have to find a way to turn that into your advantage. To do that, you have to keep up with the current trends.

Are You Marketers Ready For Halloween?

I love this time of the year. Why? Because it allows me to pull out all my magic tricks and make some extra money. How? My goodness, there are so many ways I can’t even count. What I’m going to do in this article is give you a few of my favorite ways to generate some extra cash during this time of the year. As a matter of fact, this will work for any holiday at all.

If you’re a product creator, the best way to make some extra cash during Halloween or any other holiday is by running a sale for your list. Pick out a few of your products and run a special. A good rule of thumb is to run them for at least 50% off. That way you’re certain to get quite a few sales. Make sure you run the sale ONLY until the end of the holiday and don’t run it more than 2 days before. This way you instill a sense of urgency as your list won’t have that much time to decide if they’re going to take advantage of it or not. This is a standard copywriting tactic that works quite well.

Another thing you can do is take out a solo ezine ad in a competing ezine in your same niche. Many ezine owners rent out ad space. If you get a large enough list, you can make quite a killing, even if the ad itself is a bit pricey. Of course what you can do, and this is what I do many times, is barter with the ezine owner. You offer to write a series of articles on the subject in exchange for the solo ad. The worst that can happen is they say no. Many times, they will say yes.

Finally, you can head on over to the freelance sites and offer your services on special. Let’s say you charge $50 for a WordPress install. You can run a half price special where you charge just $25. You’ll be surprised how many people out there are clueless as to how to install a WordPress blog and will be more than happy to pay you for it.

These are just a few of the ways that you can make some extra money before the holidays.

Understanding What Your Market Wants

With the crappy economy, things were looking pretty lousy for the month of October, which still has a week to go as of this article. Sales were down and I was down. It had been a long time since I had run into a spell like this. But I wasn’t going to let it defeat me. I was determined to figure out how I could salvage this month.

So I sat down and thought. What does my target market want? I mean, what do they REALLY want? Well, they want to make money. That’s the bottom line. But they don’t want to kill themselves to do it. They want to come as close to pushing a button as they can and have the money appear.

Okay, as unrealistic as that is, I thought about it a lot. Was there anything that I did that was even close to pushing that button…something that anybody could do? Well, I went through my arsenal of stuff and found something that I did that was pretty fast and easy income. I was fairly certain that anybody could do this.

The next step was to go through the process and see if I could explain it in simple to understand English. More importantly, could I explain it so that it was in step by step format that anybody could follow? I realized that I could do this so I actually walked through the entire process, writing everything down as I went.

After I had the whole process written, I then made videos of it. This was to add value to the package.

I then created my sales page and priced this at a price that would make it impossible to turn down. See, offering a great product is one thing, but when you do that in combination with an amazing offer, that’s when you have a winner on your hands.

I then put together my payment processing and uploaded everything to my server. I then ran my offer.

Inside of 6 hours I had made over 2K. Not bad for a $15 product.

The point is, I understood my market. I knew what it was that they wanted and I gave it to them. The response to this offer has been amazing and still is.

Let’s face it. That’s what we all want. We want to make money right now, today. We don’t want to wait for tomorrow. Hell, with the way this world is, tomorrow may never come. I didn’t want to give people false hopes or lead them down a path that was going to be too difficult to follow.

Perhaps you’ve heard of Google Hot Trends. Maybe not. I don’t know. But this is something that I recently got into and experimented with. In doing so, I had to iron out a few kinks. See, Hot Trends is just that. It’s what people are most interested in right now.

The main problem with these Hot Trends is that they change very quickly and they don’t last very long. So you have to hop on them right away. That means keeping your eyes on them. But once you know what to look for and what to jump on, the money starts to come in THAT DAY.

The key is knowing how to take advantage of these Hot Trends. How can you make the most of them? How can you get people to your site without cost and right away? That’s what took me some time to figure out. Once I did, the rest was easy.
