Use Forums To Boost Your Home Business

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

You are starting out with your home business amongst way too many people doing the same thing. You need to make a name for yourself or “brand”yourself. Your goal is to have your name and website associated with a certain niche. So how do you do it??

Post on business forums and do it now. This is one of the best ways to get people to see that you are knowledgeable and excited about your business. Post often and intelligently. Look for interesting threads where you can ask a good question or answer with a thoughtful response.

Use your full name as your username. Always be honest, helpful and possibly useful to someone who is reading the thread.

Keep in mind that people who are researching a home business will do many searches to seek legitimate businesses and will end up on a forum. They may not post at all but will read about things they are interested in and flock towards someone who seems the most trustworthy.

They are often seeking a mentor (whether they realize it at the time or not) and someone who will lead them in the right direction. I know this for a fact and have received many emails, calls and private messages from people who have read my posts in forums.

These people who are searching can be your best “targeted traffic” because they truly want to have a home business. You just have to show them the way.

Don’t Try To Learn It All

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

I’ve been marketing online for over 5 years now.

The other day, somebody mentioned something related to marketing that I really wasn’t familiar with. I never used it and son of a gun, it hasn’t prevented me from earning a living online.

Imagine that…something that I don’t know and I still pocketed over $122,000 online last year.

Who’d a thunk it?

The point is, you don’t have to know everything in order to earn an income on the Internet. As a matter of fact, you can earn a living online with just a few promotional methods.

For example, you could earn a living, albeit not a huge living, by simply doing some bum marketing.

Okay, you’re probably scratching your head saying to yourself, “What’s bum marketing?” Well, it’s not the marketing of bums and it has nothing to do with bums doing marketing.

Actually, bum marketing is a phrase used to refer to a method of advertising that is so simple and so cheap that a bum in the street could use it to make money online.

The basic premise of bum marketing is you write articles, submit them to directories and in your resource box point readers to your blog where you promote a product that relates to the article you wrote. The method is totally free because article submission is free and you can get a blog with Blogger or Wordpress for free as well.

The key to bum marketing is to write good articles with a strong call to action in your resource box. If you can do that, and write up a good review of the product you’re selling, you can make quite a few sales from this method.

It does take some time to write articles and you do have to write quite a few to see any significant amount of traffic, but it’s worth it once you get a good number of articles out there.

My point is, just by using this one method, you can make money. You don’t have to learn about Adwords or product creation or anything complicated. A few simple steps can earn you a nice income if you put the time in.

So don’t try to learn it all. Even I don’t know everything that’s out there.

And it hasn’t hurt my bottom line one bit.

To YOUR Success,

Blogging Like An Expert For Your Home Business - A Better Way

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Starting in a home business fills most of us with apprehension, but once the money is handed over, we want to see some return on our investment. Most of us jump in and then say, “OK, what now?”

Blogging is the answer and it can all be done for free. The first thing to do is to start an account on blogger.com or wordpress.com They offer a series of templates to help you design your blog. Give yourself an hour or two and experiment. Play with all the templates and see what the versions look like. It’s actually fun to do and will help take away the stress that comes with working with the unfamiliar.

Now you need to think of a great title for your blog. Try to think of something creative that will give the readers (and the search engines) an idea of what you essentially are trying to promote. If your title has great key words that you will use in many of your posts, the more it will be recognized. Do not stress about that though, just think of something that suits you and your personality and your product or business.

Start writing and introduce yourself. The best way to create a following is to give them a reason to want to read your blog. It is not only about the information you will offer them. That is a major part of it indeed, but it is not the only reason that people will want to come back.

The internet is so anonymous and there are millions of people doing exactly what you are doing. Add a personal touch and let people begin to see who you really are. Show your personality, vulnerability, creativity, intelligence, knowledge, flaws and whatever you can in your writing.  Intersperse your posts on your product and the business in general with a post on how excited you are about your business. Tell a humorous story that teaches a life lesson. Write about your progress. Let the reader see your successes and sometimes failures and they will begin to trust you.

In between those articles start researching SEO and take it a little at a time. Obviously you want your blog to be read and indexed by the search engines. It takes time.

Take baby steps and enjoy the entire process because it is truly a blast!

What Is The Magic Secret To Success?

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Everyone wants to know the magic secret to success. Why can two people start in the exact same place and one rise to great success and the other fail? Sometimes the person that succeeds is much less talented than the one that fails.

Why do you think that is?

I know the big SECRET and really it is not much of a secret. The secret is consistent effort. The person that gets started and consistently does something day by day for their business will win in the end.  The secret is consistency. All of the talent in the world will not help you if you are not consistent.

If you never go to work and stick with something, you never win.  It’s just a simple matter of getting started and then going to work, and keeping on tract consistently. It does not matter how fast or slow you go, but what matters is the consistent effort you put forth.

I started in my present business 2 ½ years ago.  I do something each day, to share my business. Sometimes it’s only one or two things for 30 minutes or less. Other times I work several hours in a day. The one thing I absolutely do EVERY day is work my business. I show my product to someone each day, even it it’s just ONE person. I also talk to one person about earning income with my business. I’m not extra talented but I am consistent and the consistent effort has paid off.

I know of others that start things, work it for a few weeks or months, haphazardly, and then decide it does not work. Nothing works if you don’t give it your all and stick with it.

Teaching people to be consistent, it the key to helping others become successful. I know of people that WANT success, but many times they are not willing to put forth the effort  to make it work. If you truly want to succeed at anything you simply have to stick with it long enough to get the rewards. ANYONE can do this business, but not everyone will. Learn to look for those that are coachable and willing to put forth the effort to stick around long enough to have success.

Think of this in terms of planting a garden. If you plant a package of seeds, some will sprout and others won’t. If you plant seeds, you have to take care of them. You have to water and fertilize them consistently and you will harvest a crop.  HOWEVER, you will never harvest 100% of all the seeds planted as not all will sprout.

A business is no different, however if you consistently plant new seeds, and talk to people about your business DAILY, in time you will be a success. There is simply no way to fail if you are consistent enough to stick it out.

So the keys to your success is simply BE CONSISTENT.

Go to work and plod your trail. Take action NOW and stick with it and in a few years, you’ll be a great success. It’s called “get rich SLOOOOWLY”.

Hope to see you at the top.
