What the…???

Okay, I know that’s what you’re thinking. What’s this Coordinated Promotional Advertising Model?

Well, it’s basically the heart and soul of my business. To understand that, you need to know something about my 5 years online.

See, I had no idea what I was doing when I first started out. I had no direction and nobody to give me any direction. So I had to learn things…piece by piece.

Anyway, what I discovered over that period of time, especially when it came to promotional methods, is that none of these methods existed in a vacuum. See, all the books I had read treated the subject of, whatever, as if it existed by itself.

The reality is much different. What I have discovered is that every form of promotion, regardless of what it is, if affected by everything else you do.

Think about this. Let’s say you only did Adwords advertising. But for some other reason, maybe through articles that others wrote about your product, your site started to climb up the search engines and suddenly you were getting more clicks through organic search results. You found that you didn’t have to rely on Adwords as much. Maybe you were even able to stop your Adwords campaign altogether.

Point is, there are things you can do to get various forms of promotion to work together in such a way that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Good question.

Lots of people ask me it too. Do you have any idea how hard it is answering a question like that when you have no idea what the person is doing to even try to make a living online? It’s like guessing his birthday in one guess when there are 365 days in the year. It’s almost impossible.

So what follows are a few of the main reasons why you’re not making any money online, though I can’t be 100% sure since I don’t know YOUR situation.

1. No Business Plan

Do you think you can just throw up a website, post a few ads, write a few articles and the money is going to start pouring in? Trust me…it doesn’t work that way. You need to sit down and write out a comprehensive business plan.

Don’t want to do it?

Then don’t expect to make a lot of money.

2. No Knowledge

Think you can make money online without knowing what you’re doing? Forget it! There is so much you need to learn to be successful online it would make your head spin…everything from sales copy to advertising strategies to list management. If you don’t take the time to get educated…don’t expect to earn a living on the Internet.

3. Improper Research

So many people dive into a niche without even taking the time to find out if there’s even any money in it. It doesn’t matter if you think people will love your product. If they have no need for it, they won’t buy it. It’s that simple.

Research takes time…lots of it. You need to research keywords, competition and whole lot of other things.

Don’t want to do it?

Then don’t expect to make any money unless you get very lucky.

4. No Work Ethic

This is probably the biggest culprit of them all. No, surfing the net and playing video games is not working on your business. And checking your email and Adsense stats every 5 minutes isn’t working on your business either.

You need to sit down every morning, or better yet the night before, and write out a schedule for your workday.

And then stick to it.

The above 4 items are just the tip of the iceberg. The truth is, there are so many pitfalls that can fubar your business that they’d blow your mind.

Maybe what you need is a mentor. Problem is, they don’t come cheap.

Okay, the holiday is over and it’s time to get back to work. But, I have a question to ask you…

Are YOU focused?

Here’s why I’m asking. See, a lot of us, when we sit down to do our day’s work, think we’re actually getting something done, but we’re not.

Tell me if this day sounds familiar to you.

7 AM - Get up, wash up, and have breakfast.
7:30 AM - Read the morning newspaper.
8:30 AM - Turn on the computer.
8:45 AM - Read some emails. Reply to some emails.
9:15 AM - Surf the web a bit. Maybe go to Youtube and watch some videoes.
9:45 AM - Go to our favorite forums. Answer a few posts and maybe start one of our own.
10:30 AM - Pull up one of those online rpgs. Get lost in that until lunch time.
12 Noon - Have lunch.

Okay, I’ll stop there. You know what I’m talking about. It takes you forever to actually get to your work and that is IF you ever get to it. Getting focused is the hardest thing in the world for you. And you know why that is?

You have NO schedule.

I wake up EVERY morning and know EXACTLY what I’m going to do each day. It’s all written out for me. I then check off each item as I complete it. I try to complete at least 8 items each day. Depending on how time intensive an item is, that may be a little tough, but I always accomplish a lot.

If you’re not focused, I don’t care how much smarts you have, you’ll NEVER be successful online.

So get out your Outlook scheduler or whatever you use and make a schedule for the next day and STICK TO IT.

The days where you don’t feel like working, reward yourself for completing a task. I do it by playing my guitar.

It works wonders and is a big part of the reason why I banked over $122,000 in 2007.

Get focused!

Make money.

The Easter Bunny has a surprise for you at the end of this blog post, but you better act quick because it’s only good for today.

Today is a special day for a lot of people. For others, not so special. And in today’s day and age when you have to be so politically correct, you have to be very careful about offending certain people. Something as simple as saying “Happy Easter” can be devastating.

What happened to the world I lived in, back in the 60s and 70s, when you could wish anything to anybody and they didn’t get so bent out of shape because it was a holiday that they didn’t celebrate? Oh how I wish those days where here again. The world was a lot simpler.

This politically correct attitude has crawled into our marketing lives as well. We have to be so careful with everything we say. A sales message with one word taken out of context can get us flogged over at Digg or some other place where others can’t wait to hook their claws into you.

Let’s face it…it’s just plain nasty out there.

As a result, I think sales messages are getting way too generic. I think they’re watered down and people are too afraid to take chances. Oh sure, the big boys don’t care. They’ve got loads of money already so they can put up these outrageous sales pages. But the guy just starting out…he has to be VERY careful.

Even I find myself watching what I say. Well, that’s ended. I’ve started a new video series called “The Real Truth About Making Money Online” and I don’t care how politically incorrect it is. I’m going to blow the lid off of all the lies that are being spread about making money on the Internet. It’s been fun so far and the response has been good.

You may have noticed that I am finding more time to write than usual. You’re probably wondering why, now that I’m raking in more cash than I ever have in my life.

Well, it’s simple. My business has grown so much that I don’t have to put as much time into it. I pretty much put in a few hours in the morning doing my promotion and the rest of the day i do what I want. Naturally, being a workaholic, I still put in long hours, but they’re hours doing things I like, such as writing and creating products. I love creating new products for people. It’s fun. I enjoy it.

Yes, I have a lot of fun with my business.

Think that was fun? It wasn’t.

It took me a very long time to get my act together and make something of myself. No, it didn’t come overnight.

You’re probably wondering why I am telling you this. No, it’s not for sympathy or anything like that. My life is wonderful. No, I’m telling you this because believe it or not…you TOO can have the kind of life that I have. Yes, it will take a lot of work, but if you get yourself a good solid education, there is no reason why you can’t make a full time income online.
