Well, I’m going on a rant…yet again. I find it amazing that when people drop the ball when it comes to their own business, they always look for somebody else to blame. Well, you can look no further than your mirror because the person you’re staring at is the ONLY one to blame.
True story. A guy over at a forum where I hang out made a post about how his hosting company screwed up by not sending him an email about his domain renewal. As a result, the domain lapsed and he lost it. Well, I don’t mean to be a royal pain in the backside but there is only one person responsible for keeping track of when your domain comes up for renewal…you.
I have a spreadsheet with all my important pieces of info, including logins and passwords, domain renewal dates, commissions owed and due, and so on. I don’t leave anything to chance or in the hands of others. It’s my business and ultimately, I’m the one responsible for making sure that my business doesn’t crumble to dust because I forgot to watch over it.
It’s kind of like needing somebody to remind me to feed my kids or they’ll die. Well, duh! It isn’t anybody else’s responsibility to remind me to feed my kids or take care of my business…or anything in my life for that matter. Ultimately, I am the only one responsible. In other words…the buck stops here.
What about you? Do you take care of all the things you’re responsible for? Do you keep track of domain expirations? Do you track your commissions that are owed you? Yeah, I know it would be nice to have the merchants pay us on time, but when they don’t, it’s up to us to contact them and say, “Hey, what’s the deal? Where’s my money?” Nobody is going to do it for you, that’s for sure.
Show me a person who is very successful and I will show you somebody who takes care of his own business and doesn’t leave it to others or to chance. That’s a sure fire way of losing your shirt.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some deadbeat merchants I have to get after for commissions that are owed to me.
Hey, somebody’s gotta do it.

Ebooks have been extremely popular for a long time and don’t seem to be going away anytime soon. If there is a subject you’re searching for, no matter how obscure, there is a strong chance that an ebook has been written on it. You might wonder why there are so many ebooks being written every day, even in highly competitive niches like “work at home” - “make money online” - “internet marketing” and many others. Why do people keep writing these? Hasn’t all the information already been covered?
The reason so many new ebooks come out all the time is because they are relatively easy to create, they tend to sell well, there’s always people looking for more information on a topic, and the ebook author stands a good chance at making a lot of money from their efforts. Sounds like some damn good reasons to write one if you ask me!
Even in this digital age, much of the market for ebooks is still surprisingly untapped. You would think by now that every topic would have been fully covered but there is still more than enough room for new ebooks and plenty of opportunities to make money online selling them.
Anyone looking get into making money online via ebooks should definitely not be discouraged by the amount of ebooks out there already being sold because there are plenty of great niches that are still largely untapped. Even in the big time competitive niches like “make money online” you can always expand on topics and improve on existing ebooks.
Don’t ever be afraid to get specific with your topics. As a matter of fact, targeting sub niches is one of the best ways to succeed as an internet marketer and ebook publisher. When you write an ebook on a specific sub-niche, you could then follow up with one on a related niche, and sooner than later, you could have a massive empire of hot niche ebooks that make money for you all the time.
Think creating an ebook is hard?
It’s actually a lot easier then you think! Here are the basic steps of creating a new ebook:
1 - The first thing you should do is research the niche to make sure there is a market for it. You don’t want to waste your time on an ebook that isn’t going to sell. If you find that it is a good niche then move on to step two.
2 - Find a couple of related ebooks to get an idea of what information has already been covered, how the author presented the information and what you can do to make your ebook better.
3 - Research the topic to get ideas, facts, and information for the ebook. Even if you think you already know everything there is to know about the topic, you should still do this to ensure accuracy of your information.
4 - Open up MSWord and write, write, write. Don’t worry about much of anything here except getting the words typed.
5 - Now go back and edit, format, spell check, etc… Have a friend go over it too so you can get a second opinion on everything. Add some graphics and a header and footer to make it look more professional.
6 - Covert it to .pdf
7 - Write the sales letter. Or hire a good copywriter to do this for you. This is probably the most important part for getting sales and making money, so you definitely want to make sure you have good sales copy.
8 - Write the affiliate page and any other pages you will have (tos, disclaimer, faq, etc…)
9 - Get the site up and put it all together.
10 - Set it up on clickbank or whatever you are going to use for payment processor.
11 - Market like a madman!
Marketing your ebook is a whole other lesson in itself. There are many ways to market online and you should take the time to learn all about internet marketing so you can maximize your profits.
One good way to get started is to search for forums that relate to the subject you wrote about, become a member of them, and take the time to answer questions and establish yourself as a credible resource on the subject. You can also politely offer free copies of your ebook to reputable members of the forum to get some testimonials and hopefully some affiliates selling it.
Writing and selling your own ebook is one of the best ways to make money online. Getting one created and up for sale is not a difficult task. It will take some time but almost anyone can do it. The hardest part is getting traffic to the sales page and converting it into sales. So you will definitely need to learn all about internet marketing before you will be successful at making money from your own ebook.

There are thousands of people who call themselves “internet marketers” sitting at their computers right now with the intentions of making money online. However, most of them will not make any money, or if they do make some money, it’s won’t be nearly as much as they were hoping to earn.
So, why is it that so many internet marketers are not making money?
It’s because most of them are simply wasting their time when they are “working” online! There are countless ways this can happen. Often times when internet marketers think they are working, they really aren’t. One example is checking your email 20 times per day. I could go on and on giving you examples of how you are wasting your time each day but instead I challenge you to sit back and think about that for yourself.
I will, however, tell you that one of the biggest things internet marketers do to waste their time is blogging. I bet that got your attention! You have been conditioned to think that blogging is vital for online business so you are probably wondering why the heck I would say that it’s a waste of time and will not make you any money.
Here’s why…
In order to make money online, you need traffic to your website or blog. There is no way to get around this fact. However, when you spend all day writing blog posts, you forget to do one very important thing… Market your blog! As an “internet marketer” the most important part of your job is to market.
You can have the best blog in the world with more original content than all ten of the top blogs in your niche, but that means nothing if you don’t get any visitors. Your site might contain the secret to life, but if nobody knows about your site they will never read it. Do you see what I mean? Unless you get visitors, you won’t make money!
But you can’t just get any kind of traffic either. You don’t want untargeted traffic. You don’t want Web 2.0 traffic. You don’t want other internet marketers and bloggers as your main source of traffic. Why? Because those are the people that won’t click your ads, buy from your affiliate links, or even notice any of the things you have on your site that will make you money.
You need to get traffic from the search engines! The visitors you get to your website/blog from search engines are targeted, they are actively searching for your topic, and they don’t have a clue what Adsense is or what affiliate links are. Plus, if you have done your research and are in the right niche, they are ready to spend money. These are the visitors you make money from.
So, what’s the lesson here?
Simple… Stop wasting your time posting to your blog just hoping someone will come read it. Or wasting even more of your time on digg, myspace, delicious, or any of the other social bookmarking and social networking sites that will bring you traffic but not the kind that will make you any money.
Instead, spend more time each day getting inbound links and working on other search engine optimization techniques. Use as much time as you can each day getting your website/blog ranked at the top of the search engines so you can bring in more of the type of visitors that will make you money.
Doing this one simple thing will greatly increase your chances of making money online so you can quit your job to become a full-time internet marketer and live the life you’ve always dreamed of. Now, stop wasting your time and start making money!

I’ve been marketing online for over 5 years now.
The other day, somebody mentioned something related to marketing that I really wasn’t familiar with. I never used it and son of a gun, it hasn’t prevented me from earning a living online.
Imagine that…something that I don’t know and I still pocketed over $122,000 online last year.
Who’d a thunk it?
The point is, you don’t have to know everything in order to earn an income on the Internet. As a matter of fact, you can earn a living online with just a few promotional methods.
For example, you could earn a living, albeit not a huge living, by simply doing some bum marketing.
Okay, you’re probably scratching your head saying to yourself, “What’s bum marketing?” Well, it’s not the marketing of bums and it has nothing to do with bums doing marketing.
Actually, bum marketing is a phrase used to refer to a method of advertising that is so simple and so cheap that a bum in the street could use it to make money online.
The basic premise of bum marketing is you write articles, submit them to directories and in your resource box point readers to your blog where you promote a product that relates to the article you wrote. The method is totally free because article submission is free and you can get a blog with Blogger or Wordpress for free as well.
The key to bum marketing is to write good articles with a strong call to action in your resource box. If you can do that, and write up a good review of the product you’re selling, you can make quite a few sales from this method.
It does take some time to write articles and you do have to write quite a few to see any significant amount of traffic, but it’s worth it once you get a good number of articles out there.
My point is, just by using this one method, you can make money. You don’t have to learn about Adwords or product creation or anything complicated. A few simple steps can earn you a nice income if you put the time in.
So don’t try to learn it all. Even I don’t know everything that’s out there.
And it hasn’t hurt my bottom line one bit.

Pretty straight forward question. Many people REALLY don’t know the answer to it. The truth is, not everybody is cut out for making a living online.
God bless my wife, I love her. But put her in front of a computer and she’s about as helpless as a puppy in a lion’s cage. There is no way she could ever do what’s required to run an online business. Heck, she can just about save a Word DOC without losing it. And this woman is a high school math teacher with 25 plus years of experience. Computers just aren’t her thing.
Then there are some people who have spent their entire life pushing a mop at some apartment complex. They have no education and very few skills. How tough do you think it’s going to be for somebody like this to sit in front of a computer and run an online business?
And then there are those who actually have quite a bit of smarts, have some skills, but have never worked for themselves. They’re so used to taking orders from a boss that to try to motivate themselves to get up every morning and do what is required to run their business isn’t such an easy thing. Some people just can’t handle all that freedom.
Have you ever sat down and asked yourself if you’re cut out for this? Honestly, I didn’t when I first started because I had to make this work. I had no choice. Maybe desperation drives you to the point where you can do anything. If that’s so, what about you? Are you desperate enough? Do you want online success enough to go out and get it? If not…
Are you cut out for this.
That’s a question that you might want to sit down one day and ask yourself. Otherwise, you might be wasting months, or even years of your life chasing after something that you’re just not suited to do.
Running an online business isn’t for everybody.
Is it for YOU?
