Let’s take our heads out of the sands and admit that times are tough. Though many people are feeling their wallets shrink, there are a number of people who are less affected by a weak economy. Among them are people who work at home.
Now, not everyone who works from home is going to come out of it wealthy, but there are those who will improve their financial situation.
Right now is actually the perfect time to work at home as it is the current trend. More companies are setting up telecommuting programs for their employees as an effective method to cut overhead expenses. Not only that but, unstable economic conditions encourage people to set up full or part-time home based businesses.
Although there are financial benefits to working at home such the costs saved on buying expensive work clothes, saving on gas (which is through the roof), and tax benefits, working from home in itself won’t get you closer to wealth. You have to be smart about the way you do it.
Many people when they look for a self-employment opportunity approach it with the same attitude and standards as working outside the home. That is–they search for linear working relationships. The problem with linear income is there is a limit on what you can earn.
A classic example of a work at home linear income job is, you sell something to one person, get paid and then look for another person to sell to. By doing this you are putting yourself in the same economic trap that you were originally trying to free yourself from.
Very few people can obtain wealth with a linear income especially if you work at home. Even if you do make a lot of money you have to work longer hours, take on extra responsibility and be prepared for financial liability.
Instead of looking for opportunities where you are paid once for a task you do look for work at home opportunities that allow you to build residual or passive income. In other words find opportunities that pay for a task you did.
Smart people, wealthy people, people who are rarely affected by a weak economy look for opportunities that will generate a recurring, long term income, while they sleep, while they are on vacation even when they retire.
These types of work at home jobs do not build themselves overnight. They take some initial effort to set up but require little maintenance after.
Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to earn passive income and work at home. When looking for affiliate programs look for those that pay life time commissions. Royalties are also a great way to earn recurring income. If writing is a skill of yours there are many websites that pay royalties for your articles.
The financial situation for many is looking bleak. But you can turn it around if you work at home. Because you are making more money and are saving money, your financial situation will greatly improve. Just remember when you are looking for home based opportunities look for those where you work once and get paid over and over again.

The amount of people deciding to work at home has been on the rise for years and it increases much more with each new year. There’s about a million reasons why you many want, or need, to work at home but here are five of the top reasons I have heard people give for deciding to work at home…
1) Gas Prices - It’s no secret to anyone with a car that the gas prices these days are ridiculously high. When you have to commute an hour to work each way, you can go broke just paying for gas. If you work at home you don’t have to worry about paying for gas just to get to work.
2) Pay Yourself - You aren’t limited by an hourly wage or yearly salary. The amount of money you make rests almost entirely within yourself and you can virtually write your own checks. With all the ways there are to make money online, you can do many things to make a living working at home and there are few limitations on the size of the income you can earn.
3) Freedom - When you work at home you have the freedom of working a schedule that you set. Don’t like to get up early? Fine just start working later in the day. Want to go to the beach today? Just pack your lap top and get some work done while soaking in the sun.
4) Family - One of the best benefits of working at home is that you get to spend much more time with your family. You aren’t away all day or night working at the office. You can finally have the quality time you have always wanted with your family.
5) Necessity - There are plenty of reasons why it is simply necessary to work at home. Maybe you have a disability that prevents you from going to a regular job. You might have to be at home to take care of the kids. It’s possible there aren’t any good jobs in your area. Or any of about a thousand other reasons why it is necessary for you to work at home.
That is by no means and exhaustive list of the reasons for working at home. There are countless reasons why working at home might be for you and it’s possible that none of your reasons are even on the above list. That’s ok. We each have our own reasons for doing things. What’s important is that you have made the decision to improve your quality of life and start doing something that you enjoy!

Pretty straight forward question. Many people REALLY don’t know the answer to it. The truth is, not everybody is cut out for making a living online.
God bless my wife, I love her. But put her in front of a computer and she’s about as helpless as a puppy in a lion’s cage. There is no way she could ever do what’s required to run an online business. Heck, she can just about save a Word DOC without losing it. And this woman is a high school math teacher with 25 plus years of experience. Computers just aren’t her thing.
Then there are some people who have spent their entire life pushing a mop at some apartment complex. They have no education and very few skills. How tough do you think it’s going to be for somebody like this to sit in front of a computer and run an online business?
And then there are those who actually have quite a bit of smarts, have some skills, but have never worked for themselves. They’re so used to taking orders from a boss that to try to motivate themselves to get up every morning and do what is required to run their business isn’t such an easy thing. Some people just can’t handle all that freedom.
Have you ever sat down and asked yourself if you’re cut out for this? Honestly, I didn’t when I first started because I had to make this work. I had no choice. Maybe desperation drives you to the point where you can do anything. If that’s so, what about you? Are you desperate enough? Do you want online success enough to go out and get it? If not…
Are you cut out for this.
That’s a question that you might want to sit down one day and ask yourself. Otherwise, you might be wasting months, or even years of your life chasing after something that you’re just not suited to do.
Running an online business isn’t for everybody.
Is it for YOU?

Getting paid to sell other people’s products on the internet has created a huge industry known as affiliate marketing. Earning money online with affiliate programs is one of the easiest ways to get started that there is. You can be up and running with an affiliate marketing website and ready to sell a product in a matter of minutes. Your out of pocket cost to do this is an unbelievable $0. This brings up an interesting question.
What are the characteristics that every successful affiliate marketer has? More importantly would be do you have these now or are you willing to get them/
1. You have to be curious enough to never stop learning. Internet marketing with affiliate programs is in constant motion. What that means is things are always changing. Smart and successful people are always coming up with new ways to do affiliate marketing.
If you are just getting started you may have a very large learning curve. As you begin to become successful your learning is not going to stop. This is your business and it pays to keep up with what is going on in it.
2. You have to be willing to work everyday. This does not mean you can not take some time off. What it means is this is your business and you control how successful you make it. Because it is so easy to start an affiliate marketing business many people make the mistake of thinking it is going to be easy.
On the contrary. You have to put in the time before you will see a dime could be your motto. Be prepared to have days when you are working and not making any money. To be successful as an affiliate marketer is going to require you to view the hours you work as an investment in your success.
3. You are going to have to have discipline. To work at home on the internet gives you the freedom to choose when you work. The successful affiliate marketer has the discipline to set a schedule to work and then stick to it. You will find it really is not like work at all, but on the days when you feel like turning on the t.v. your discipline will help you work through that.
4. Successful affiliate marketers are positive by nature. If that is not you then you are going to have to change. A negative person can not be successful online because so much of your work does not make you much money at first. Keeping positive will help you stick with it in the lean times and help motivate you to do the things that will make you money.
So much of the success an affiliate marketer has comes from their attitude. Once you learn the nuts and bolts of how affiliate programs work and how you can work with them it really comes down to you.
Knowing there are millions of people are making money on the internet should be motivation enough to know that you can join them if you keep your attitude the way it should be.
Take care
