Are Money Making Opportunities for Real?

You can find money making opportunities constantly being advertised all over the internet as well as on television, magazines, newspapers, signs, and just about everywhere else possible. You will see them whether you are looking for them or not, but if are actually trying to find one it can be very difficult to sift through them all and decide which one to do.

Teaching people how to make money from home on the internet or from their own offline home business is a very big industry. In fact, the sheer number of online money making opportunities out there combined with all the hype surrounding them makes people wonder if these programs and systems are real or just a load of crap. Do people really earn a living online with internet marketing, or is it all fake?

The answer to that question largely depends on who you are listening to and what you are expecting. If you plan to start an online business and think you will be making thousands of dollars in a short amount of time then you are going to be severely disappointed. However, there are many people who do make serious money online after several months or years of work. Yes, you can earn a living online, and a very good one at that, but it’s going to take a lot of time and effort before you get there.

The truth is that it takes hard work but most people don’t want to believe that. They want to think they are going to get rich quickly just because they are on the internet and not in the “real” world. Think about it for a minute… if it were really that easy then everyone would do it and we would all be rich.

It is true that some people get lucky and strike “online gold” very quickly but they have usually had business experience before they set out to make money online, and most likely had a lot of existing contacts. They may also have had a lot of money to invest in order to make things happen much more quickly, or perhaps they had no other work and were able to spend all their time building their online business day and night until it was making money. Necessity can be a great motivator.

However, working harder does not necessarily result in success. There are plenty of people who work very hard every day for a small amount of pay in return. “Work smarter, not harder” is a line you will see quite often, and a lot of the time it is true. Successful online businesses usually outsource at least some of their work and they tend to focus on the things that are making them money rather than trying to do it all.

Outsourcing means that you hire somebody else to do the grunt work or the parts of your business that you cannot handle or don’t like doing. An example would be that if you are not technically minded, you could hire someone to build websites for you or if you don’t want to spend half your day on customer support, you can hire that out. This does not mean that you have to have an employee sitting in your house working with you. People are usually hired over the internet to work from their own homes, which may be on the other side of the world.

One very important thing to remember is that if you see a business opportunity being advertised be sure to do your due diligence before investing your money or time in it. Many of these are legitimate businesses but you do have to be aware of scams and know that even in legitimate business you can often find yourself in competition with thousands of other people all trying to sell the same service to the same people. Often times you need to have an edge to stand out from the crowd in order to make good money. One example of a business model that can be difficult for beginners to break into and find success is MLM. It can be a great way to build residual income, but be careful, it’s not as easy as they make it sound.

Often, the secret to making money online or even offline is to “do what I do, not what I say.” In other words, you take a good look at how the successful people are running their businesses. Instead of buying into their program or opportunity along with thousands of others to try to make money the way that they say, model your business around what they are actually doing. Then you may find that instead of struggling to make money with these opportunities, you have thousands of customers of your own.

In conclusion, I just want to say that there are many ways to earn a living other than having a regular job in the offline world. Money making opportunities can be your savior but don’t believe everything you hear and don’t fall for all the hype. Take your time to learn and research before jumping into anything.

  1. Good article, especially since this is what I’ve been doing for over 10 years. I facilitate a workshop at a local community college. It’s called Fire Your Boss – Work at Home and runs for three Saturday mornings in a row. It is about unusual techniques that help you create prifitable home businesses, writing ad copy and Internet Marketing.

I also sell the book and CD that contains the course.
